The most important questions about zorVaro.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is zorVaro a medical emergency service?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

No. zorVaro does not replace emergency services, medical alert systems or personal emergency response systems. zorVaro carries out an information and action plan that you define in advance around your personal check-in. This can include all-good messages after a check-in as well as prepared actions when a check-in is missed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can zorVaro inform my family even when everything is okay?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Yes. You can choose to have a prepared message sent automatically after your check-in. For example, a few minutes after you check in, an email or SMS can be sent to family members letting them know that everything is okay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can I send a single SMS while traveling and inform several people?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Yes. You can also check in with zorVaro by SMS. This is particularly useful when traveling or in areas with limited internet access. Instead of contacting several people individually, a single check-in with zorVaro can trigger your prepared plan. zorVaro then informs the contacts you selected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Does this also work with satellite communication?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If your satellite or communication device can send standard SMS messages to public mobile phone numbers, that SMS can generally also be used as a zorVaro check-in. Whether this is possible and what it costs depends on the device, plan and satellite service you use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do I check in?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Through the secure web area, the personal app or by SMS. The apps are deliberately designed for a quick response so that checking in takes as little effort as possible in everyday life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What happens if I miss a check-in?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

zorVaro then carries out the actions you defined for that situation according to your schedule. These can include emails, SMS messages, automated voice calls, registered mail, file sharing or other prepared steps. A missed check-in is not a medical diagnosis and is not proof of death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is zorVaro intended to replace an advance healthcare directive, power of attorney or will?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

No. These documents serve their own legal and personal purposes. zorVaro can, however, help make prepared documents and information available to the people you choose at the intended time, so important documents do not first have to be searched for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can zorVaro also send registered mail?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Yes. zorVaro can also send registered mail automatically. This means that important documents or personal messages can, for example, also be delivered by post in the situation you defined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mail is sent through a specialized delivery provider. The estimated cost is shown before use and charged against your balance for optional services. The feature is enabled separately for your account when needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can everyone see my data?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

No. User accounts are separated from one another. Sensitive account data and files are also encrypted at the application level. Other regular users cannot access your contacts, messages, files or prepared plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How is my data encrypted?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Each account has its own random 256-bit data key. Sensitive content such as contact information, addresses, messages, file names and other account data is protected with this key at the application level. The account key itself is not stored in plaintext in the database, but is additionally encrypted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

zorVaro uses authenticated AES-256-GCM encryption for this purpose. Technical timestamps, IDs and status values sometimes need to remain machine-readable so that scheduling, delivery and recovery can work reliably.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How are uploaded files protected?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Files are stored encrypted and do not have a publicly accessible storage address. New files use account-specific encryption. For an authorized download or delivery, the application can technically remove the normal outer layer of protection and provide the file in the form you specified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

zorVaro does not open or analyze the contents of the file. There is no automatic content analysis, document or text recognition, indexing or preview generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What does \u201cExtra Protected\u201d mean?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In this mode, you upload a file that you have already encrypted yourself. zorVaro is not given and does not store the personal password or recovery key. zorVaro additionally encrypts the already protected file with the normal account encryption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the file is later downloaded or sent, your personal encryption remains intact. If you lose your personal password, zorVaro cannot recover the file.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Does zorVaro open or analyze uploaded files?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

No. zorVaro treats uploaded files as file objects. Their contents are not opened, searched, indexed or displayed as a preview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For storage, an authorized download or delivery as an attachment, zorVaro must technically process the file and, for normal files, be able to remove the outer server-side encryption. This is not content analysis: the file is only stored or passed on in the form you specified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With \u201cExtra Protected\u201d, your personal encryption remains in place as an additional layer. zorVaro does not know the associated personal password or recovery key.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are backups protected as well?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Account data and files encrypted at the application level remain encrypted inside backups as well. Backups and the geographically separate failover system are also treated as different layers of protection. A mirror does not replace a backup, and a backup does not replace a mirror.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can zorVaro provide files and documents?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Yes. Files can be sent as email attachments or made available through protected retrieval using a personal code. Different recipients can receive their own retrieval links and codes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This also allows the file and its access information to be sent through different communication channels if you wish \u2014 for example, the information by email and the corresponding retrieval code by SMS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How does file sharing work?<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why shouldn't important files be sent only as email attachments?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Email providers automatically inspect attachments and may reject or handle certain file types, encrypted archives or large attachments differently. zorVaro has no complete control over these filters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For important documents, protected file retrieval with a personal code can therefore be the more robust alternative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How much can you store in 1 GB?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It depends greatly on the type of files. As a rough guide:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scanned documents or smartphone scans<\/strong>: often only a few hundred KB per page. This means 1 GB will typically hold several thousand document pages<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Digitally created PDFs<\/strong>: text-based documents often require considerably less storage. In this case, many thousands to tens of thousands<\/strong> of pages can fit in 1 GB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Photos and videos<\/strong>: require considerably more storage. Videos in particular can fill 1 GB within just a few minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

zorVaro is primarily intended for documents and other important files.
If 1 GB is not enough, additional storage can be added.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

How quickly are SMS messages delivered?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When an SMS becomes due, or after a server restart, zorVaro hands it over to the SMS provider as quickly as possible. Actual delivery to the recipient's phone may still be delayed depending on the mobile network and provider. zorVaro has no direct control over delivery time after the message has been successfully handed over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What happens if the server goes down?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If automations were enabled, actions that became due during the outage are automatically processed after service is restored. If automations were deliberately disabled, missed actions are not carried out retrospectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Successful executions are protected against unintended duplicate processing.
Separate backup and mirror procedures are also available for recovery and failover operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why can't I use all live features immediately after registering?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Immediately after registering, you can use demo mode and try zorVaro at your own pace. In demo mode, external actions are generally simulated so that you can test your setup without accidentally sending real notifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once your account has been enabled, the live features included with your access become available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why was zorVaro developed?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

zorVaro grew out of the search for a solution that can do more than simply notify an emergency contact.
